Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is Luxury for Learning, Inc. (“Luxury for Learning)? (top)
A: We are a non-profit organization formed to raise money for public schools, presently in the State of Maryland, but we plan to expand the raffles to benefit public schools in other states as well. The Internal Revenue Service has granted Luxury for Learning with 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization status and has further classified Luxury for Learning as a private foundation. Luxury for Learning is also registered with the State of Maryland as a charitable organization.

Q: Why raise money for public schools? (top)
A: Each year, state and county budgets grow tighter as governments grapple with ever increasing costs and intense pressure not to raise taxes. As a result, public schools must make tough decisions when allocating resources. Simply put, needs go unmet. Luxury for Learning believes in a strong public school system and believes that every child deserves a quality education. We are all winners when our schools succeed.

Q: What are the prizes and what happens if I win a prize? (top)
A: If you win the Grand Prize or any applicable Runner-Up Prizes, you will be notified (by phone, email, and/or mail) by a representative of Luxury for Learning. You have thirty (30) days from notification by Luxury for Learning to claim the prize. For additional details, please see the Official Rules.

Q: What is the cost of a ticket and how many tickets can I purchase? (top)
A: The cost of each ticket varies by raffle. There is no limit on the number of tickets a single individual can purchase. The more tickets you purchase, the better your chances of winning a prize.

Q: Can I pool my cash together with friends or family to buy a ticket? (top)
A: There are no restrictions on a winner's ability to share prizes after they have been awarded. However, each ticket must be purchased in one (1) single person's name and all prizes are awarded solely to the purchaser's name of record and the address on the winning ticket. Note, the winner of any prize remains solely responsible for: (i) complying with all prize requirements; (ii) providing Luxury for Learning, Inc. ("Luxury for Learning") with all proper transfer documentation bearing notarized signatures, as required by Luxury for Learning, in connection with any transfer of a prize; and (iii) any and all taxes, fees, assessments and like charges associated with their prize. Luxury for Learning is not a party to and assumes no responsibility related to any transfer of any prize or to any agreements or understandings regarding the treatment or distribution of any potential prizes. Luxury for Learning's sole responsibility is to award each prize to the winning purchaser's name of record and address as stated on the winning ticket. See Official Rules for full details.

Q: If I win a prize, am I still eligible for additional prizes in the current raffle? (top)
A: A purchaser may not win more than once in any single raffle. However, winning a raffle does not disqualify the winner from any future raffles. See Official Rules for full details.

Q: How do I get my ticket number after purchase? (top)
A: Upon completing your raffle ticket purchase on the secure website, your purchase information will be available for printing, additionally you will receive an email containing your ticket number(s) and purchase confirmation, assuming that you provide a valid email address during purchase and that your ISP and your computer does not block or otherwise restrict the confirmation email from being delivered (i.e., spam filters, etc.).

Q: Can I choose my ticket number? (top)
A: No. Ticket numbers will start at zero and count up as they are sold. Example: Given a raffle with one thousand (1,000) tickets, the first ticket number will be “000” and the last will be “999”.

Q: I did not receive my order confirmation in my email. What do I do now? (top)
A: If you entered an email address and did not receive a confirmation email, please check your spam filters and junk email boxes as your computers settings may have screened our communication as spam. If you still cannot locate the confirmation email, please send us a message using the contact form located on the CONTACT US page of the website. Please be sure to include all pertinent information to assist us in researching your order and resolving any issues.

Q: How much money goes to the public schools? (top)
A: Marketing expenses, the cost of the prizes, and advertising-media costs associated with the Luxury for Learning Charity Raffle vary with each raffle. Additionally, overhead costs must be paid. However, 100% of the NET proceeds derived from the Luxury for Learning Charity Raffles are designated to support public schools.

Q: To which state is the money given? (top)
A: Unless stated otherwise, money for public education needs will be given to the State of Maryland.

Q: Where does the money go? (top)
A: In Maryland, the Department of Education delegates where money goes based on where it will yield the greatest benefit. Each county presents a list of items (textbooks, calculators, overhead projectors, etc.) that are needed. The Department of Education then meets as many of the needs as possible. Other states allocate charitable contributions in a similar fashion. Luxury for Learning, Inc. was formed to help public education by giving as much as possible in a continuing effort to fulfill unmet education needs.

Q: Is my credit card number secure? (top)
A: Yes. All credit card and personal information collected as part of the ticket purchase process are maintained using secure methods including a secure website, secure bank lock-box and secure telephone connections. Luxury for Learning, Inc. will announce the drawing day within five (5) business days after the end of the raffle. One cash prize consisting of 50% of the net monies available will be awarded to the winning ticket number. The other 50% of the net monies will be donated to public schools.

Q: Is my raffle ticket purchase tax deductible? (top)
A: The IRS has taken the position that amounts paid for chances to participate in raffles, lotteries or similar programs are not gifts and, therefore, the price of your ticket does not qualify as a deductible charitable contribution. Please consult with your own tax advisor for any additional information.
